SEE REPAIR WORK →The Iowa Floor Coating Standard
Most floor coatings in Iowa fail within 2 to 3 years because they were installed like a paint job: acid-etched, rolled thin, and cured in the wrong temperature. Des Moines garages see 100+ freeze-thaw cycles a year, magnesium-chloride road salt tracked in all winter, and hot-tire temperatures over 140°F in July. We wrote the Iowa Floor Coating Standard so any homeowner or facility manager can check a coating bid against the seven things that actually decide whether a floor lasts 2 years or 20.
Developed by Jose Colin, owner of Colin Coatings Des Moines, from 20+ years of concrete and coating work across Central Iowa.
Service Area
We're based in Des Moines and we coat floors across this metro every week. Our crew lives in the same suburbs they're working in, so we know which new subdivisions have green slabs that need a moisture test, which 1960s Urbandale garages are pitted from decades of salt, and which acreages south of Norwalk need a shop floor that can take a skid loader.

How It Works
From the first call to the last coat, here is exactly what working with Colin Coatings looks like.
Call (515) 320-8883 or send the estimate form. We'll ask a few questions about the floor: size, age, any existing coating, and how you use the space.
We come out, measure, check the slab for cracks, pitting, and moisture, and talk through colors and finishes. Free, no pressure, usually 30 minutes.
You get a price in writing — prep, repairs, base coat, flake or color, topcoat, and labor as separate lines. The price on the estimate is the price on the invoice.
Diamond grinding in the morning, base coat and flake by midday, polyaspartic topcoat by afternoon. Walk on it that evening, park on it in 24 to 48 hours.
Why Colin Coatings
Jose Colin runs estimates himself and is on every job. Not a franchise. Not a lead-gen site. You're hiring a local owner who is on your floor, not behind a desk.
We never acid-etch. Every floor is mechanically ground to a CSP 2–3 profile so the coating bonds to sound concrete. This one step is the difference between a floor that lasts and one that peels.
Polyaspartic topcoats that stay flexible at -20°F, resist magnesium-chloride road salt, and won't lift under hot tires in August.
Every quote breaks out prep, repair, base coat, flake, topcoat, and labor. No vague "floor coating — $X" numbers.
Polyaspartic systems cure in hours, not days. We start in the morning and you're walking on it that night.
We coat garages, basements, shops, patios, and commercial floors across the full Des Moines metro. Call to schedule a free on-site inspection — or send a message and we'll get back to you the same day.
