Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to estimates issued and work performed by Colin Coatings Des Moines.
1. Scope of work
All coating work is performed according to the written estimate provided to you. The estimate states the system, the preparation method, the color or flake blend, and the areas included. Anything not listed on the estimate is not included.
2. Estimates
Written estimates are valid for 30 days from the date issued and are based on the conditions observed during the on-site inspection and the moisture test.
3. Deposit and payment terms
A deposit of 50% is required to reserve your installation date, with the remaining balance due on completion. We accept credit card, ACH and other methods noted on the invoice. Deposits become non-refundable once material is ordered or mixed for your job, because coatings are ordered by color and batch. Unpaid balances may result in late fees, interest, suspension of work, a mechanic's lien, or referral to collections.
4. Change orders
Any change to the scope, color, system or schedule must be agreed in writing. Changes may affect both the price and the installation date.
5. Site access and preparation
The area to be coated must be completely empty before the crew arrives, including vehicles, shelving, appliances and stored items. We need access to the space, to a standard electrical outlet, and to water. Gates, garage doors and entries must be unlocked or the customer present. Delays caused by a space that is not ready may require rescheduling.
6. Weather and scheduling
Coating work is temperature and humidity dependent. Rain, snow, extreme temperatures, high humidity, or a slab that is too cold or too damp may move a start date. A weather delay does not void the agreement. Exterior work, including patios and pool decks, is the most affected.
7. Unforeseen conditions
Conditions that cannot be seen until preparation begins, such as high moisture vapor readings, an unbonded or failing previous coating, contamination, hidden cracks, spalling, or a slab that grinds differently than expected, may require added work. We will explain and price it in writing before continuing.
8. Workmanship and warranty
Residential floor coatings include a written workmanship warranty against peeling, delamination and hot-tire pickup caused by installation, for the term stated on your estimate. Manufacturer material warranties are passed through where available.
The warranty does not cover:
- Cracks caused by slab movement, settling or structural failure
- Moisture or hydrostatic pressure from beneath or outside the slab
- Damage from impact, dropped tools, jack stands or equipment
- Improper cleaning agents, solvents or abrasive pads
- Salt, chemical or abuse damage, or neglect
- Alterations or repairs made by others
9. Property damage and liability
We take reasonable care of your property. Grinding is a dusty and loud process, and we use vacuum-assisted equipment to control it. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, existing cracks or stains that remain visible through a coating, underground or in-slab lines that are not marked, or damage caused by the access route that equipment requires.
10. Communications consent
By giving us your phone number or email address, you consent to receive appointment confirmations, estimate reminders, project updates and follow-ups by phone, text, email and automated message. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts, or use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing. 11. Cancellation
If you cancel after a deposit is paid, we retain the portion of the deposit covering material already ordered, labor scheduled and the installation slot reserved for you.
12. Completion and final payment
A project is complete when the agreed scope has been performed and our equipment is ready for removal. Final payment is due at that time. Cure times on your completion sheet must be observed before foot traffic, furniture and vehicles return.
13. Care of your floor
Clean with a neutral cleaner. Avoid solvents and abrasive pads. Put mats under jack stands and hot tires where possible. Care instructions are included on your completion sheet.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of Polk County, Iowa.
15. Acceptance of terms
Approving an estimate, paying a deposit, or signing electronically constitutes acceptance of these terms.
