Polyaspartic is an aliphatic polyurea, a two-component resin developed for bridge and industrial coatings that has become the top-tier residential floor coating. Compared with epoxy it cures in hours instead of days, it's UV-stable so it won't amber in sunlight, it stays flexible in extreme cold, and it has higher abrasion and chemical resistance. It costs more per gallon, which is why cheap floor coating companies still push epoxy.
We use polyaspartic as the topcoat on every garage floor and most basement floors, and as the full system (base and top) when a floor needs to be back in service the next morning.

Process
How a One-Day Polyaspartic Floor Goes In
- 7:30 AM — Diamond grind. The whole slab, to a CSP 2–3 profile. Dust-collected.
- 9:00 AM — Repair. Cracks chased and filled with polyurea, pits patched, everything ground flush.
- 10:00 AM — Base coat. Pigmented polyurea/polyaspartic base rolled on.
- 10:30 AM — Flake. Full broadcast to refusal, so no base coat shows through.
- 1:00 PM — Scrape and vacuum. Excess flake removed for a smooth, even surface.
- 2:00 PM — Topcoat. Clear polyaspartic with anti-slip additive.
- Evening — Walk on it. Park in 24 to 48 hours.
